Meet my “new” lens Sony DT 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6 SAM lens after the DT 50mm F/1.8 I bought last year Oct! HAHA! The same batch both came along together back in 2009.

The SAM stands for Smooth Autofocus Motor that enable in-lens auto focus (AF) drive for smooth, quiet operation, and high optical performance in a compact size. Optimized for use with APS-C sized image sensors like my Sony A550!

It’s an ideal lens for everyday shooting, covering wide range of general purpose applications. I even got this together with a lens hood anyway, not that important tho if I’m shooting under blazing sun to prevent lens flare.
Been shooting with it since this Tuesday as you can see from my previous post. Simply wonderful and I got this lens just merely RM200. HAHA! Gonna come in handy for upcoming outing and vacation in Nov later this year.
In additional, I’d kept looking into filter lens for it.

Found a really great bargain for both UV and CPL filter lens for RM30 both and there is this close-up filter lens caught my attention when I was searching for the 2! A budget filter for photographers who wants to do macro shooting!
Octopus +10 Close up Filter

Well, Im sure you know investment your hard earn money on lens are really painful not just yourself but also the wallet! HAHA! That is why I find this filter actually provide an alternative choice besides getting a traditional actual macro lens.

I like doing close-up shots, Im not referring to portrait shots here but small subjects. Example – insects or close subject.

Result using with Octopus +10 Close up Filter!
Of course you can’t compare what a Macro lens can really achieve but I think this filter lens should just do great and fine! I really won’t wanna spend RM1699 for a macro lens when this less than RM100 filter lens can get absolute astonishing macro result! It saved me almost RM1.6k ok?!
The package comes with a pocket pouch too!
If you think filter lens doesn’t suits your taste, how bout an extension tube for Nikon, Canon and Sony?

Read here! It doesn’t matter how many diameter of lens you using but you can achieve macro result by attaching this extension tube between your DSLR body and any of your lens! A set of extension tubes comes in 3 pieces - 9mm, 16mm and 30mm. These 3 pieces can be configured to your desired configuration.

Im a budget tight photographer and I do understand you too want to get an affordable and decent macro lens pretty much like I do! And Im sure this extension tube absolutely is what you are looking for!
Without extension tube
